Research: Digipak & Analysis - Aidan

What is a Digipak?

Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. Digipak-style cases grew in popularity among record labels and recording artists in the early 2000s.

The incentive is basically the extras added to the CD/DVD in addition to the actual disk and its case with front and back covers. It will include Front, Back, Spine and at least four additional panels.

From my research I found there is current trends with a Digipak. For example if the digipak was made for a horror film or heavy metal artist the coloring would be a lot darker compared to a pop song or child's film. This is because there is a different target audience for each of the digipaks.
